Several hundred residents and their families came out for the third annual Light Up Estero event sponsored by the Rotary Club of Estero on Saturday, December 3, 2016.
Mayor Nick Batos, Vice-Mayor Howard Levitan, Councilmembers Jim Boesch, Katy Errington, Bill Ribble and Jim Wilson all took part in the ceremonies.
Mayor Batos presented the key to the Village of Estero to 108-year-old Breckenridge resident Mildred Lewis, Councilmember Errington read a proclamation on behalf of the Council and all Councilmembers assisted Santa in turning on the lights to the Christmas tree.
Upon arrival, guests were presented a 2016 Christmas ornament, cookies and punch by the RotaKids from Three Oaks Elementary School.
Christmas carols were played and sung by the Three Oaks Middle School Band, Kylee Dunn, the New Horizons Choir and Rotary President Gary Israel, and Jim Ramsburg read “The Night Before Christmas” with children gathered around.
Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived in grand style via an Estero Fire Rescue fire truck.
The Light Up Estero Committee Chair Beverly MacNellis, members of the Rotary Club of Estero, Estero Chamber of Commerce, Estero Chamber’s Young Professionals Network and a number of other volunteers all made this special community event happen again this year.
