ppeThe Village has contracted with Lab 24 to perform three days of testing for COVID from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, November 23 – 25, at Hertz Arena.  The test will be the more accurate molecular test, which has a 1-3 day turnaround time. These tests will be conducted in the parking lot of the arena on a first come first served basis and are free to the public. Driver’s license is required.  The Village encourages our community members and any visiting family and friends to get tested, in advance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

In addition, two masks each will be mailed to all residential doors and 30,000 to business and non-profit (schools, churches, etc.) agency employees in Estero at the end of December.

The masks are being provided through the CARES Act and are meant to encourage mask use during the continuing COVID pandemic.

The Lee County Board of County Commissioners allocated $478,157 in potential CARES Act reimbursement funds to Estero with a December 30, 2020, deadline to expend the funds.  Thus far, the Village has spent $122,000 on items believed to be eligible for reimbursement. This includes the PPE care package giveaway on October 24, where nearly 4,000 packages were distributed to the public.

The Village asks that residents continue to help keep our community safe by following the CDC recommended guidelines of social distancing, wearing a face covering in public and washing your hands for a count of 20.
