Estero residents, FGCU organizations, and local companies are all contributing to keeping our roadways free of litter and looking attractive.

This is the third year in a row that volunteers from Cascades, Genova, Mirasol, Lighthouse Bay, and Pelican Sound are working on Estero roadways through the Village of Estero’s Adopt-A-Road Program supported by Keep Lee County Beautiful. These roads include Estero Parkway, Williams Road, and Via Coconut Point.

Over the summer through November, thirty volunteers provided 89 hours of service, collecting 865 pounds of litter.

Through Lee County’s Adopt-A-Road Program, volunteers have adopted county road sections in the Village which include Three Oaks Parkway, Corkscrew Road, Ben Hill Griffin Parkway, and Estero Parkway east of Three Oaks Parkway. These volunteers come from Grandezza, Country Creek, Meadows of Estero, Pelican Sound, Rookery Pointe and Heatherstone, River of Life Church, several FGCU organizations, and companies such as RMS and Massage Envy of Coconut Point.

Engage Estero continues its relationship with FDOT for the Adopt-A-Highway Program now in its fourth year.  During season, volunteers from over 40 communities and companies have participated in this program working on Estero’s stretch of Hwy 41 from Breckenridge Road to south of Coconut Road.  Marathon/Dos Amigos Authentic Mexican Grill has provided water and ice to these volunteers since this program’s first season.

If you would be interested in participating in this group, contact Julie Yellig at ecclhwy41@gmail.com.

Kudos to all of these volunteers who are working together to help keep Estero’s roads free of litter, which is something everyone in the Village can appreciate.
