Many Estero residents have been volunteering their time to help keep Estero litter-free and beautiful.

Total litter collected since the end of last season from Williams Road, Estero Parkway, and Via Coconut Point – the three roads in the Village’s Adopt A Road Program – was 3,098 pounds. Our volunteers have collected 5,238 pounds – or 2.6 tons – of litter since the start of this successful initiative in the fall of 2021.

This program currently includes participants from Cascades, Genova, Mirasol, Pelican Sound, and Lighthouse Bay.

The trash bin that is just outside the Cascades community pedestrian gate will continue to be monitored and emptied regularly. Please consider carrying a small bag to pick up litter as you walk Estero Parkway and then dump the litter into this bin.

Thanks to 7 Eleven on Estero Parkway and Med Express for assisting volunteers with bottled water and use of their dumpster.

The volunteers in FDOT’s Adopt A Highway Program for Estero’s stretch of US 41, through Engage Estero (formerly ECCL), have collected just under 8 tons of litter since October 2020. Participants from over 50 communities and businesses have participated in this program’s mission since the start of this initiative.

We also want to thank Marathon/Dos Amigos Authentic Mexican Grill for their continued support of the volunteers by supplying ice and water for each month’s cleanup event.

Lee County’s Adopt a Road Program also involves many Estero residents, organizations, and businesses. The roads in this program include Three Oaks Parkway, Corkscrew Road, Ben Hill Griffin Parkway, and Estero Parkway east of Three Oaks Parkway. Participants in the county program in Estero include volunteers from Country Creek, River of Life Church, Grandezza, Rookery Pointe/Heatherstone, RMS (Residential Maintenance Solutions), and several FGCU organizations. Anyone interested in available sections for this program can contact Ashley Cruz at Lee County DOT at 239.533.9400.

We appreciate our many neighbors in Estero who regularly pick up litter on their walks throughout the Village. Everyone role-modeling this vision for an environmentally healthy and litter-free community is making a difference.
