Corkscrew Road Widening Update from Lee County July 24, 2022
The following work activities are scheduled to occur, however unforeseen underground conditions and weather may affect this schedule. The contractor continues underground work in the driveway of The Preserve at Corkscrew (Cypress Shadows Boulevard). Crews are currently working in the exit and the entrance is open to two-way travel. This work on Cypress Shadows Boulevard is expected to continue until late July. Crews continue work on the traffic signals at the intersections of Stoneybrook and at Bella Terra Boulevard. Lee County Domestic Animal Services asks you to Do What’s Right – Reunite
Lee County Domestic Animal Services staff will be at various off-site locations to be available for residents to bring stray animals to be scanned for microchips. It’s called the “Do What’s Right – Reunite” initiative. Independence Day created an influx of stray pets because of firework celebrations, which frequently startle dogs and cats. Animal Services experiences this each year and recognizes that it is not always convenient for residents to bring animals they have found to the county facility within 24 hours, which is required by county ordinance. Estero on the River’s future land use map among many topics scheduled for Council on July 6, 2022
The meeting will start at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, with Council recognizing local state legislators: the Honorable Senator and Senate President Designate Kathleen Passidomo, the Honorable Senator Ray Rodriguez and the Honorable Representative Adam Botana. The following work activities are scheduled to occur, however unforeseen underground conditions and weather may affect this schedule. Corkscrew motorists should expect slower than usual traffic when approaching communities along Corkscrew Road. Work is occurring in The Preserve’s entranceand many turn lanes into other communities are closed. During the nighttime/overnight hours of 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday, June 27, crews will be installing a water main under Bella Terra Boulevard. Corkscrew Road Widening Update from Lee County June 20, 2022
The following work activities are scheduled to occur, weather permitting. During the nighttime/overnight hours of 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday, June 20 through Wednesday, June 22, crews will be installing the signal arms over the roadway at Corkscrew Road and Ben Hill Griffin Parkway. Motorists should expect long delays as crews must close movements throughout the intersection during these times. Motorists are urged to use Alico Road during this work. Safe, sober driving is the message conveyed in Estero High School students’ PSA
Congratulations to teacher Kea McElfresh and her students Estero High School students videotaped a Public Service Announcement (PSA) which has recently aired on WINK-TV to help educate the public on the impact of drunk driving. Here’s a link to the video. The Estero students’ PSA addresses what can result from driving drunk. The videotaping took place over several days and was coordinated by Kea McElfresh, Theater/TV Production teacher at Estero High School, with WINK-TV, Estero Fire Rescue, Lee County Sherriff’s Office, Bonita Video and Estero Life Magazine. The following work activities are scheduled to occur, weather permitting. Beginning Monday, June 13, the contractor will begin underground work in the driveway of The Preserve at Corkscrew (Cypress Shadows Boulevard). Crews will first work in the entrance and the exit will be open to two-way travel. Once this work is complete, the contractor will move to work in the exit and both directions of travel will use the entrance. Work in the entrance is expected to continue for approximately one month. Council will start their meeting at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, addressing renewal of the Community Urban Block Grant agreement with Lee County, miscellaneous professional consultant services and a public hearing for an ordinance pertaining to the Reserve Policy. Council will then conduct workshops addressing redistricting, rules of procedure, Via Coconut Point landscape and Corkscrew Grove which is 6,676 acres of land located on Corkscrew Road in the eastern part of Lee County. Please note, work in the driveway at The Preserve at Corkscrew has been postponed until mid-June to allow for utilities to be moved out of the area. Work in the Wild Blue driveway will continue through June. The following work activities are scheduled to occur, weather permitting. Motorists using Wild Blue Boulevard should expect crews working underground in the entrance to Wild Blue. Currently crews have the inbound driveway closed and the exit is open to two-way travel.
