The following information is provided by Cougar Contracting, Inc.:  Corkscrew Road is now in its final configuration from Ben Hill Griffin Parkway to Bella Terra Boulevard.  Motorists should expect isolated flagging operations with periodic lane closures as the contractor works through the final project punch list.  Motorists should also expect construction vehicles entering and leaving the roadway. Crews continue installing signage, sod, and fencing throughout the project. Estero’s EGGStravaganza featuring an adaptive egg hunt will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 8, at the Estero Recreation Center, 9200 Corkscrew Palms Blvd. The egg hunt and the opportunity to meet the Easter Bunny are for children ages 12 and under. The cost is $5 per child. Bring your camera and basket. The first egg hunt begins at 10 a.m. This is an outdoor event, weather permitting. The motto for the Village of Estero is “A Village with a Vision,” and it is Don Eslick who provided that vision and came to be known as “Mr. Estero.” Eslick, 88, died on March 16, 2023, leaving behind his wife Suzie Eslick. Eslick was a driving force in the Estero community starting upon his arrival in 1999.  He was passionate about shaping the future of this community, an unincorporated area that experienced phenomenal growth throughout the 2000s. On Thursday, March 9, during the nighttime/overnight hours, motorists should expect crews working in the travel lanes to install additional roadway striping. The new striping will be installed near the intersections of Wildcat Run, WildBlue, and Bella Terra.  The contractor continues work outside of the travel lanes.  This work includes installing drainage, earthwork, clearing & grubbing, prepping for sod.  Crews continue work on the box culvert near the wildlife crossing.  This work will of be outside of the travel lanes.  Pedestrians should expect the sidewalk on the south side of the road closed from Ben Hill Griffin Parkway to Stoneybrook [...]

Estero Historical Society Board President Gail Langner will discuss the historical evidence that fills out the history of the Alverez-Smith family and their home.  She will provide a deeper understanding of the family’s history and how it has shaped the development of the community. Following Langner’s presentation, Jeff McCullers will be available to answer questions and discuss further details of the family’s story. The meeting starts at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Villages of Country Creek clubhouse, 21180 Country Creek Drive.  Tickets are $10 for members and $15 for non-members.  Register here.

RESCHEDULED due to sub-contractor schedule: During the nighttime/overnight hours on Monday, March 6 through Wednesday, March 8, motorists are urged to plan extra time when using the Ben Hill Griffin Parkway intersection.
