Council will start their meeting at 9:30 a.m. reviewing a bid for the annual mowing, landscape, and irrigation maintenance of Estero’s roads, including the US 41 median. Council will then be asked to approve the agreement between the Village and Estero Crossings for the payment of their share of construction costs for the construction of the Corkscrew Road/Puente Lane traffic signal. The Florida Department of Health and Lee County government will launch a reservation system and a new, larger site for free COVID-19 vaccinations for frontline healthcare workers and people age 65 and older. The reservation system will launch Monday and vaccinations will resume Tuesday at a single site east of Interstate 75 off of Daniels Parkway. It’s the site of the old airport terminal parking lot. Message boards will direct traffic to Paul J. Doherty Parkway. Only people with appointments will be vaccinated. The meeting started with Lee County Sherriff’s Office Community Liaison Amy Dell Aquila describing the Deputy Dog Program.  The program began with the rescue and adoption of the dog Chance who was found with his mouth taped shut.  Deputy Chance’s main initiative is to prove animal abuse is never acceptable. Aquila then introduced special guests Estero resident Richard Wilbanks and his dog Gunner.  Wilbanks and Gunner made national news recently when Wilbanks rescued Gunner from the jaws of an alligator.  Gunner is the newest member of the Deputy Dog team. **Please note: The vaccine is being provided through the Department of Health...should you have questions, please call 1-866-779-6121. The Call Center is available 24 hours per day. Inquiries may also be emailed to COVID-19@flhealth.gov.** The Florida Department of Health in Lee County (DOH-Lee) is offering COVID-19 vaccine to high-risk frontline health care workers and those 65 and older.  DOH-Lee staff will have 300 doses of vaccine available at each site.  Sites are supported by Lee County Public Safety. Village consultants Clarion Associates and Johnson Engineering will conduct a workshop on the proposed Land Development Code (LDC) Part 2C. The LDC, which is required by the state, provides guidelines for all development and re-development in the Village.  It addresses architecture, open space and parking, landscaping, sidewalks, bike/ped improvements, traffic and stormwater and the types of permits required for these projects. Part 2C of the LDC focuses on general provisions, administration, and rules of construction, interpretation and measurement. Lee County Solid Waste to suspend Monday residential garbage collection

Lee County has suspended residential garbage, yard waste and recycling collection on Monday, November 9, because of winds anticipated from Tropical Storm Eta. Regular household collections will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week. Monday’s collections will be picked up Tuesday, Tuesday’s collections will be picked up Wednesday and so on through Saturday. (Collections will occur on Veterans Day.) The county asks residents to remove anything outside their homes that could blow away during the storm, including garbage cans, lids and recycle carts. Store them inside.
