FPL using drones to conduct maintenance assessments
The Village has been notified by the Florida Power and Light Drone Team that they will be conducting maintenance assessments of the power lines in our area over the next one to 5 days. The assessments will be conducted by licensed drone pilots, contracted by FPL and will follow all FAA privacy and flight regulations. Estero on the River property among topics for Council on January 24, 2024
The meeting will start at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, addressing an interlocal agreement for Election Services with the Supervisor of Elections. Council will then review a proposed contract with CW3 Engineering, Inc. to provide construction engineering and inspection services for the Estero on the River Phase 1 improvements. Corkscrew Road Widening Update from Lee County January 18, 2024
Crews will be sodding the median and shoulders over the next week beginning near Bella Terra and working their way west. Motorists should be aware of construction equipment and vehicles operating close to the roadway. Left turn lanes from Corkscrew Road are unavailable into Wild Blue Boulevard, Cypress Shadows Boulevard (The Preserve at Corkscrew), Midnight Blue Boulevard, and Bella Terra Boulevard. Registration is now open for the 5K Family Fun Run planned for Saturday, March 2, at Estero Park and Recreation Center, 9200 Corkscrew Palms Blvd. The Family Fun Run is part of Lee County Parks & Recreation’s annual Estero Health Expo, which is 7 to 11 a.m., Saturday, March 2, at the Estero Park and Recreation Center. Household chemical waste collection scheduled at Estero Park on January 17, 2024
Residents will be able to dispose of household chemical waste safely and responsibly from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 17. Items will not be accepted either before or after that time period. Chemical waste categories include items that are ignitable, corrosive, explosive and/or reactive and toxic, such as leftover paints, cleaners, herbicides, pesticides, automotive fluids and pool chemicals. Never dispose of these items in dumpsters, compactors or at curbside with household garbage or down a storm drain or in the soil. Information security policy Florida Statute 282.3185 Local Government Cybersecurity Act requires certain standards be met by local governments. The Village of Estero’s information security policy was created and reviewed by the Village’s information technology consultants, Calvin, Giordano & Associates, to meet the requirements of this statute. This policy will standardize and bolster the cybersecurity of the Village. Council voted to adopt this policy. Council to conduct special meeting to address appeal of Brooks Town Center apartments development order on December 13, 2023

Lee Board of County Commissioners approve contract for Corkscrew Road Widening Phase II
The Lee Board of County Commissioners voted today to approve a contract for construction of Corkscrew Road Widening Phase II from Bella Terra Boulevard to Alico Road. Construction will begin in the first quarter of 2024 and the project includes: Widening of an existing two-lane road to four lanes Drainage improvements A 6-foot sidewalk on the north side and 10-foot asphalt shared-use path on the south side On-road bike lanes A new signal at Alico Road Force main and water main relocations/replacements.
