The Village is planning the future of “Old Estero” along the U.S. 41 corridor and nearby neighborhoods from Estero Parkway from the north, south to Hertz on both sides of 41.  This effort focuses on protecting natural areas, honoring Estero’s history, and ensuring high quality development. To date, the Village has gathered community input through an online survey and an open house. More than 1,700 residents responded to the January survey, and 60 attended the first open house in March. Public Hearing Walmart repaint color palette The applicant is planning to repaint their building located at 19975 South Tamiami Trail. The Board voted to approve this application subject to a change of paint color to “sticks and stones” shade on the rear of the building in sections 5 to 8. Public Information Meeting Corkscrew Village expansion The applicant Is requesting a development order for the final phase of a pre-existing self-storage facility.  The proposed two-story 75,910-square-foot storage building is located at 8900 Commons Way. a 5-acre site east of US 41 and Corkscrew Road, south of the Publix shopping center. The meeting will start at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday,  with a public hearing for Walmart’s application to repaint their building at 19975 S. Tamiami Trail and a public information meeting for a two-story storage facility at 8900 Commons Way. There will then be workshops for Coconut Point Waypoint Residences, 365-unit apartment buildings, parking garage and surface parking at 8021 Cinema Way, and an update on the Eco-Historic planning study. Sports Park Resolution 2024-12 – Proposed Millage Rate for FY 2024-2025 Council approved this resolution adopting the proposed millage rate of 0.7400 mills ($0.7400 per $1,000 of assessed property value) which is equal to the prior year rate. The millage rate will be reviewed in two public hearings on Wednesday, September 11, at 5:05 P.M. and Wednesday, September 18, at 5:05 P.M. Council will start the meeting at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday addressing the proposed millage rate for FY 2024-2025 and approval of the first budget amendment for FY 2024/2025. The Village’s emergency response plan and contracts for on-call disaster debris monitoring and recovery services will be reviewed as part of the Village’s disaster preparedness program. Council will then discuss Hurricane Ian recovery and resiliency planning program grant management support to be provided by Haggerty Consulting, Inc. Construction manager at risk contracts will be reviewed for Estero’s utility extension projects (conversion from septic to sewer) and Corkscrew Road path, landscaping and lighting project.
