Enjoy a free movie under the stars at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at Estero Park, 9200 Corkscrew Palms Blvd. The 2023 PG-rated computer-animated comedy “Trolls Band Together” will be the main feature. In this movie, we follow Poppy who embarks on a harrowing and emotional journey to reunite her favorite boy band and save them from an even worse fate than pop culture obscurity. Council voted to purchase land on Three Oaks Parkway to establish two ponds to address flooding concerns, which could favorably affect neighboring flood insurance rates This purchase also preserves green space in place of additional development. Join local invasive species management professionals from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., Saturday, February 24, at River Oaks Preserve, to learn how to recognize and remove invasive plant material common to our area. Volunteers will be working in the beautiful scrubby flatwoods east of the north branch of the Estero River. You should bring work gloves, closed-toe shoes, pants, long-sleeved shirt as well as water, lunch/snacks, bug spray, sunscreen and your favorite weeding tool. Computers, all computer components, printers, copiers, scanners and televisions can either be disposed of in the regular garbage or brought to the Household Chemical Waste Facility, 6441 Topaz Court, Fort Myers. Household alkaline batteries, AA, AAA, C, D, 9-volt and button batteries can be disposed of in your regular garbage can.
