Corkscrew Road Update from Lee County (rev)
Below is this week’s update for the Corkscrew Road Widening project. Crews are moving east with the force main installation. The following work activities are scheduled to occur, weather permitting: Through the week of February 28, crews will be installing utilities under Midnight Blue Boulevard (Wild Blue). Access will be maintained. Motorists are urged to follow signs and expect traffic pattern changes. Corkscrew Road Update from Lee County
The following work activities are scheduled to occur, weather permitting: Through the week of February 14, Grande Oak Way (Grandezza) will be closed to vehicles to allow crews to install utilities under the roadway. Residents and visitors must use an alternate access to enter/leave the community. Crews will return at a later date to completely restore the roadway. Animal control, River Oaks property and Public Works Update presented to Council on February 16, 2022
Council started their meeting recognizing Julie Yellig, who serves as the ECCL/Adopt-a-Highway Coordinator. She has helped organize Estero volunteers join together in an effort to help keep our roadways free of litter. Over 3.8 tons of litter have been collected since the program began. Yellig also provides assistance for volunteers for the local Adopt-a-Road program which is supported by the Village of Estero and Keep Lee County Beautiful. They then approved an FY 2021-2022 interlocal agreement between Estero and Lee County for stray animal control services in the amount of $41, 972. Lee Commissioners have awarded a contract for library renovations in Estero
Lee Board of County Commissioners voted today to award BSSW Architects, Inc. an architectural services contract for renovations to the South County Regional Library. The planned renovations include an automated material handler, upgraded building systems, reconfiguration of the interior to better serve the public and staff, ADA upgrades, a new roof and site improvements. BSSW Architects, Inc. will provide professional architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing design services. There will be multiple opportunities for public input during the 11-month design process. Summer camp registration opens at Estero Recreation Center starting February 28, 2022
Lee County Parks & Recreation Summer Camp registration opens at 7 a.m. Monday, February 28. Registration is expected to draw thousands of youngsters to programs, outings and activities at the department’s traditional camps, middle school camps and specialty camps. Parents are encouraged to sign up early. Each year, the allotted spaces at Estero Recreation Center fill up well before school ends. Camp registration is ongoing as long as space is available. Florida League of Cities launches new advocacy network
The Florida League of Cities has announced the launching of Local Voices United, a grassroots advocacy network. Public Comment on non-agenda items: The Estero Council of Community Leaders (ECCL) COO asked that Councilmembers consider being a judge for the high school and middle school essay contest. Broadway Avenue utilities extension and Broadway East & Sandy Lane bike/ped improvements on the agenda for Council on February 2, 2022
Broadway East & Sandy Lane Council will start their meeting at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, reviewing a resolution supporting the establishment and alignment of U.S. Bicycle Route 15 which will travel through the Village. Volunteers needed to help keep the Via Coconut Point roadway beautiful
As you may know, Estero residents have joined together in an effort to help keep some of our roadways free of litter, including US 41 and Estero Parkway. Via Coconut Point is another popular road being used by walkers, runners, and bikers in addition to automobiles. As you may have noticed, this mixed traffic is contributing litter along the roadway so this is a good candidate for adoption by residents living close by.
