Parks, Recreation & Open Spaces Master Plan on the agenda for the Council meeting on Wednesday, March 18, 2020
Council will start their meeting at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, addressing a resolution for the Parks, Recreation & Open Spaces Master Plan. Also on the agenda is a request for bid for street sweeping services in Estero and the Village Attorney’s report on the Happehatchee Center and the Pelican Landing traffic signal. The Village of Estero has added a Coronavirus Information webpage on our website to help keep residents informed with the latest information from the CDC and local health departments. The http://estero-fl.gov/coronavirus/ page is set up to display the latest tweets from the CDC, Lee County Health Department, and Lee Health. As soon as new tweets are posted by the health departments, they are posted on this page. If you are not feeling well, please call your primary physician first. Additionally, you may contact the Coronavirus helpline established by the Florida Department of Health at 1-866-779-6121.
Council addressed board appointments among a number of topics at their meeting on March 4, 2020

March 10 and March 12 CIP open houses postponed
The two March evening open houses to discuss the Village’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP) have been temporarily postponed. Council plans to conduct a CIP workshop during their April 1 on April 8 meetings. The community open houses will be scheduled sometime following these two workshops. The updated information will be posted on the Village website as soon as the dates are scheduled.
Upcoming Opportunities to help guide future projects in Estero
What improvements do you think Estero needs most? The Village of Estero will be hosting two evening open houses to discuss the Village’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP). The CIP outlines how the Village will spend funds on roadway, landscaping, bicycle/pedestrian, stormwater, and parks/recreation projects over the next five years. These community open houses will provide the best opportunity for residents to actively discuss the various projects and their priority with Village Staff. Council to conduct Capital Improvement Plan workshop following their meeting on Wednesday, March 4, 2020
Council will hold a workshop to discuss the Village’s FY 2020-2021 Capital Improvement Plan following their 9:30 a.m. meeting. This will be an opportunity for residents to express their opinion regarding how the projects should be prioritized within the plan. In addition, two community open houses will be held in the evening later this month for those people who are not able to attend the morning workshop. Design Review Board approved Hertz sculpture and AutoZone store on February 26, 2020
Public Hearing Hertz - sculpture Representatives for Hertz Arena presented their plans for a 13.5-foot-tall stylized stainless-steel sculpture of an ice hockey player to be displayed on an 8-foot tall raised concrete pedestal. The sculpture will be lighted at night with lights within the concrete base pointing up on the sculpture. The sculpture is to be located at the arena’s southeast corner in the outdoor plaza. Design Review Board to conduct public hearings for the proposed Hertz sculpture and AutoZone store on Wednesday, February 26, 2020
The Design Review Board will conduct a public hearing at 5:30 p.m. for a 13.5’ stylized steel sculpture of an ice hockey player displayed on an 8’ pedestal at the Hertz Arena. They will then conduct a public hearing for a 7,381 square foot AutoZone store to be located at the corner of Corkscrew Road and Puerto Way, adjacent to Culver’s.
