Council approved the lowest millage rate in southwest Florida at their meeting on September 18, 2019
The meeting started with a presentation by Census Bureau Recruiting Manager Don Radcliff. He described the importance of registering all Estero residents as the results of the 2020 Census will help determine the state’s representation in Congress, as well as how certain funds are spent for schools, hospitals, roads, and more. Design Review Board conducted a public information meeting for the Hilton Garden Inn on September 11, 2019
Representatives for Hilton Garden Inn presented their plans for a 115-room, 5-story hotel to be located on the corner of Via Villagio and Sweetwater Ranch Boulevard, just east of the Estero Fire Rescue Coconut Point Station. The proposed building will be undulated vertically and horizontally, and painted in three colors: Venetian yellow, classic yellow and white, along with simulated stone features and a tile roof. Hurricane Dorian Update
The Village of Estero is closely monitoring Hurricane Dorian as it progresses toward Florida, along with our partners in Lee County and the Estero and San Carlos Park Fire teams. No evacuations are required at this time. What We Know: Hurricane Dorian will impact the eastern coast of Florida early next week (likely Monday). What We Don’t Know: It is unclear what the impact will be on Estero, at this time. Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected. The storm timeframe is unclear, at this time. Florida Cancer Specialists presented to the Design Review Board on August 14, 2019
Workshop Representatives for Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute presented their plans for an infusion center to be located east of US 41 and south of Pelican Colony Blvd., adjacent to Extra Space Storage. They are planning a single-story facility with a public space healing garden. The building as proposed will have 3 tile roof towers to add undulation, with stucco and stone elevations. There are decorative corbels over the building windows.
