The Village of Estero is starting its first Parks and Recreation Master Plan. This Plan will outline the Village’s long-range vision for Parks and Recreation intended to meet residents’ needs. The third annual fundraiser for the Estero High School Culinary Program at the Shadow Wood Golf & Country Club on December 17, 2018, was completely sold out. The students offered the crowd a special treat, conducting a one-hour competition team demonstration where they created their signature three-course meal in front of their guests. Dinner featured filet mignon accompanied by a signature salad and a trio dessert. Black Seminole Indian Mathew Griffin gave a vivid and enlightening description of how the Black Seminole tribe came about and how they struggled along with the Seminole Indians during the Seminole War from 1835-1842 at the Estero Historical Society’s annual luncheon at the Villages at Country Creek on December 14. Village Councilmembers joined about 100 other Estero residents who enjoyed this intriguing account of Florida’s history. The Design Review Board conducted a public hearing on December 12 to review the proposed repainting of the exterior surfaces of Hertz Arena. Representatives from Hertz met with neighboring communities to the arena, Tidewater and Grandezza, to address their new proposed paint palette. Hertz demonstrated the views of the arena from the neighboring communities.  They addressed where the color yellow would be intrusive to the neighbors, i.e., Tidewater to the north, so the new proposal does not include yellow in that portion of the building, as well as no yellow banding around the roofline at that portion of the building.  [Read More.]

Public Hearings Tesla showroom at Coconut Point Mall Representatives for Simon Properties/Coconut Point and Tesla were requesting an administrative amendment to add Vehicles and Dealers Group 1 to the schedule of uses within Tract 2 of the mall. This would allow a Tesla sales/showroom to be located in the former Grape Base location.  No more than 20 Tesla models would be displayed inside and out, including behind the movie theater. In addition, two separate potential actions are provided for Council’s consideration to establish the Estero Parkway project’s construction budget.
