Lee County Utilities on Tuesday, May 21, will end the free chlorine flush, which will involve converting its disinfection process from a free chlorine residual back to chloramines as the primary disinfectant. The free chlorine flush, which began May 1, is a routine measure common among water utilities that use chloramines as a primary disinfectant. Volunteers helped keep Estero’s roads beautiful again this season
Anne Rupp, John Frisella, Elaine Frisella, Judy Lefevre, Alphee Lefevre The Village’s Adopt a Road initiative collected 2,080 pounds of litter this season from three roadways: Williams Road, Via Coconut Point, and Estero Parkway. Volunteers from Mirasol, Lighthouse Bay, Genova, Lee Health, and Pelican Sound worked 304 hours in this endeavor. Village working diligently to respond to FEMA issue
On March 29, FEMA verbally informed Lee County and four municipalities (City of Bonita Springs, City of Cape Coral, Town of Fort Myers Beach and the Village of Estero) that it would be potentially removing discounts on the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) on premiums that allow residents to save money on their flood insurance effective October 1. The EFF staff and volunteers served the Estero community for over 21 months, with volunteers providing 4,655 hours of service.
