The Village recently conducted the final public meeting for residents to provide feedback regarding their priorities for the future of the 62-acre Estero on the River property. Susana Gonzales with Canin Associates described the south and north sides of the river as having two very different characteristics, stating the 16 acres on the south side is green with a mature forest appropriate for nature and civic uses but the north side of the river is an abandoned orange grove with little to no environmental value. Village consultant Brian Canin is conducting these meetings to encourage input from residents regarding what they want to see happen with this property. The 62-acre Estero on the River property is the land that faces the northeast corner of Corkscrew Road and US 41, encompasses a ¼ mile frontage of Estero River, and extends north to Judith Lane and east to the railroad tracks. Canin explained that there are different characteristics on either side of the river. Estero on the River topic for Village Council workshop on September 1, 2020
Village consultant Canin Associates will conduct a workshop on the Estero on the River property for the Village Council at 3 p.m. on Tuesday. Canin Associates is assisting the Village with its efforts to identify ideas for use of the Estero on the River property. Purpose of this workshop is to solicit feedback from Council. No decisions are made during workshops. There will be additional sessions held this month to solicit input from the public. Estero on the River bank loan, US 41 median landscaping and Estero Parkway among items addressed by Council on December 5, 2018 Action Items
Estero on the River 10-year Bank Loan Council approved awarding the fixed rate, 10-year bank loan RFP to Capital Bank, a division of First Tennessee Bank to provide funding for the Estero on the River land purchase. The purchase price of $26,000,000 will be funded by a down payment of $5,000,000 from the general fund and debt providing for the remainder of $21,000,000.
