Action Items Resolution 2024-04 – Selection of Planning, Zoning & Design Board members and Chairman Council passed this resolution, selecting the new members and Chairman for the Planning, Zoning & Design Board (PZDB).  Four members of the PZDB have terms that expire on April 30,2024. The following information is provided by Cougar Contracting, Inc.:  Corkscrew Road Widening Project – Phase I Construction Project Motorists should expect lane shifts and lane closures during the nighttime/overnight hours of 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Sunday, March 31 as crews stripe the roadway at several locations along Corkscrew Road. Motorists should expect isolated flagging operations with periodic lane closures as the contractor works through the final project punch list. Action Items Infrastructure grant applications Council approved a contract with Hagerty Consulting, Inc., to assist the Village in preparing and submitting infrastructure grant applications.  The contract amount is $203,782, with a contingency of $20,000. Lee County received HUD funds to support long-term hurricane recovery for the area, and Hagerty Consulting, Inc., would work with Village staff to get grant applications submitted to Lee County before the end of  May. The Estero Athletic Booster Club is hosting its 4th annual fundraising golf tournament at 8 a.m., Sunday, August 18, at The Club at Renaissance in Fort Myers. The event will include a 4-person scramble, lunch and presentation of awards following golf. This annual fundraiser helps raise funds to support athletic scholarships, equipment and training tools for student athletes.  Cost is $150 for individuals and $600 for a team; price includes breakfast, lunch and cart fees.  You may register here. The 12th annual “Breaking Par at Grandezza” is a two-day fundraising event to benefit Estero High School students who don’t have the resources to go on to college or trade schools. You may support this event by playing in the shotgun/scramble at Grandezza at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, April 13. and/or attending the gala dinner at Grandezza at 5:30 – 8:15 p.m., Sunday, April 14. Approximately 2,200 Estero residents, their families and friends came out on a sunny Saturday afternoon to join in the festivities at the EsteroFest 2024 event at Estero Community Park. Starting out, there was a popular Kids Zone featuring face-painting, carnival games, arts and crafts, bounce houses, magic shows, Way Too Tall Torrie and kid friendly food trucks. Later, adults enjoyed a beer and wine garden, a variety of food trucks and the music performed by the Swamp Blues Band followed by the nationally acclaimed Ben Allen Band. Estero’s EGGStravaganza featuring an adaptive egg hunt will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 30, at Estero Park, 9200 Corkscrew Palms Blvd. Preregistration is required by calling the recreation center at 239-533-1470 or online at www.leeparks.org/register. The egg hunt and the opportunity to meet the Easter Bunny are for children age 12 and under. The cost is $5 per child. Bring your camera and basket.
