Corkscrew Road Widening Update from Lee County January 27, 2024
Crews are installing signage, guardrail and fencing throughout the project. The contractor continues to complete concrete work including curb and gravity wall. Motorists should expect concrete trucks entering and exiting the roadway. Construction of the wildlife crossing/bridge structure is complete and will be painted in the coming weeks. Council acts to relieve flooding issues, create more recreational facilities and preserve green space at their meeting on January 24, 2024
Council voted to purchase land on Three Oaks Parkway to establish two ponds to address flooding concerns, which could favorably affect neighboring flood insurance rates This purchase also preserves green space in place of additional development. FPL using drones to conduct maintenance assessments
The Village has been notified by the Florida Power and Light Drone Team that they will be conducting maintenance assessments of the power lines in our area over the next one to 5 days. The assessments will be conducted by licensed drone pilots, contracted by FPL and will follow all FAA privacy and flight regulations. Power pole replacement along Williams Road to start January 25
Please be aware FPL’s contractor will be replacing power poles along Williams Road January 25, 2024, through March 29, 2024. Construction will include intermittent eastbound lane closures. Please take extra caution while driving through the construction area.

Crews will be sodding the median and shoulders over the next week beginning near Bella Terra and working their way west. Motorists should be aware of construction equipment and vehicles operating close to the roadway. Left turn lanes from Corkscrew Road are unavailable into Wild Blue Boulevard, Cypress Shadows Boulevard (The Preserve at Corkscrew), Midnight Blue Boulevard, and Bella Terra Boulevard. Learn to identify invasive plants at River Oaks Preserve on February 24
Join local invasive species management professionals from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., Saturday, February 24, at River Oaks Preserve, to learn how to recognize and remove invasive plant material common to our area. Volunteers will be working in the beautiful scrubby flatwoods east of the north branch of the Estero River. You should bring work gloves, closed-toe shoes, pants, long-sleeved shirt as well as water, lunch/snacks, bug spray, sunscreen and your favorite weeding tool. Registration is now open for the 5K Family Fun Run planned for Saturday, March 2, at Estero Park and Recreation Center, 9200 Corkscrew Palms Blvd. The Family Fun Run is part of Lee County Parks & Recreation’s annual Estero Health Expo, which is 7 to 11 a.m., Saturday, March 2, at the Estero Park and Recreation Center.
