Join Estero Historical Society’s Independence Day celebration on July 1
The Estero Historical Society is inviting the entire community to celebrate the 4th of July with a reading of the Declaration of Independence. This is a great way to kick off the Independence Day holiday weekend, remembering the importance of what this day in American history represents. This annual celebration starts at 10 a.m., Saturday, with local historian Jacob Winge who will be reading the Declaration dressed in authentic 18th-century period costume. Attention Lee County Utilities Reuse Water Customers
The Three Oaks Water Reclamation Facility is currently undergoing an expansion to increase its capacity. Until the expansion is complete, reuse water will not be available. Instead, Lee County Utilities (LCU) will be using groundwater to supply water to reuse water distribution customers. This started in June 2023 and will continue until June 2024. Due to regulatory requirements and operational constraints, there is the potential for system supply shortages during periods of peak demand. During the NIGHTTIME/OVERNIGHT hours this week, the contractor is scheduled to mill and resurface from the Ben Hill Griffin Pkwy intersection to east of Wildcat Run. One lane is expected to remain open in each direction during this work. Motorists should expect lane shifts and flagging around the operation. This work is scheduled, weather permitting.
