Public Comment on non-agenda items: An Estero resident stated that on May 4, the Estero Council of Community Leaders, Estero Historical Society, and Estero Chamber of Commerce presented $1,000 scholarship checks each to Estero High School student essay winners. Mary Sue Burun was presented the “History” scholarship and Brian Robinson was presented the “Governance” and “Business” scholarships. Council will start their meeting at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, addressing the award of a contract with Scott Shannon of Woodard & Curran to serve as program manager of the Village’s septic to sewer program. Groundbreaking ceremony set for Corkscrew Road Widening Project on May 13
The public is invited to attend an official groundbreaking ceremony for the Corkscrew Road Widening Project at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 13, at the Pinewoods Water Treatment Plant, 11950 Corkscrew Road. Attendees should use the east entrance to the plant. The ceremony will feature brief remarks by Lee County Commissioners and other officials. Centers for Disease Control guidelines will be observed. Lee County Utilities customers may notice a temporary change in taste, odor and color of their water
Lee County Utilities will be temporarily converting its disinfectant process from chloramines to free chlorine residual from May 3 through May 24, 2021. This is a routine measure that is common for water utilities using chloramines as its primary disinfectant. Anyone who uses a kidney dialysis machine at home should contact an equipment supplier so the proper filtering equipment may be installed. Tropical fish or aquatic animal owners should contact a local tropical fish store for appropriate pretreatment of water before adding water to tanks.
