Council will start this meeting at 5:05 p.m., Wednesday, with the first of two public budget hearings. Budget hearings are required to be held after 5 p.m. Action items include development of the Sports Park Campus Master Plan and approval path for Village projects. South County Regional Library renovation contract approved by Lee Commissioners
South County Regional Library in Estero The Lee Board of County Commissioners voted on September 3 to approve an $11 million construction contract with Chris-Tel Construction to renovate the South County Regional Library at 21100 Three Oaks Parkway. The renovation plans, designed by GHC Studio (formerly BSSW Architects), provide for separate spaces for children, teens and adults, a dedicated program room for children and teens, additional study rooms and an automated material handling system to improve the efficiency of library returns. Ribbon cutting ceremony for new state of the art turf field at Estero High School
Community leaders gathered for a ribbon cutting ceremony, for the newly installed state of the art turf field at Jeff Sommer Stadium on August 23, 2024. Estero Mayor Jon McLain welcomed the crowd, Estero High Director of Athletics David LaRosa and Estero High Principal Jennifer Biddell honored the late Athletic Director and Coach Jeff Sommer for whom the stadium is named. Residents are invited to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new, professional-level turf field at Jeff Sommer Stadium at 5 p.m. Friday, August 23. The celebration will feature music, food trucks and remarks from Village and school officials. Then at 7:30 p.m., watch the Estero Wildcats compete against the Riverdale Raiders in their first game of the season. Dedicated Estero community volunteer Leonard “Scotty” Wood III has passed
Leonard “Scotty” Wood III, resident of the West Bay Club, passed away on August 12, 2024. Scotty had a long record of contributing his time and expertise to the Estero community. In April of this year, he was recognized for volunteering hundreds of hours serving as Chairman of the Village of Estero’s Planning, Zoning & Design Board over the past 9 years. This Board helps achieve the Village’s vision, with its focus on architectural and landscape excellence. Compliance letter sent to National Flood Insurance Program policy holders
IMPORTANT UPDATE The Village is aware that National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) policy holders have now received a letter from FEMA regarding their flood insurance policies. Village staff wants residents to know they are diligently working to respond to FEMA in order to avoid probation and maintain the Community Rating System (CRS) which provides residents up to a 20% discount on their flood insurance. Any change to the 20% discount will not happen during the hurricane season and will not be effective until at least April 1, 2025.
