Estero High School girls varsity soccer team heads to semi-finals

Estero High girls varsity soccer team is seeded # 1 In the District playoff after their win of 8-0 over IDA Baker on January 29. Their next game will be the semi-finals at Estero High School’s Jeff Sommer Stadium Tuesday, February 2, at 7:00 pm. They will play the winner of Lely (#4) and Golden Gate (#5). If successful, they will then play at home again on Thursday, February 4 at 7:00 pm. All game tickets must be purchased in advance at https://gofan.co/app/school/FL13096 The high school stadium can accommodate 500 fans following CDC recommended guidelines.

Council will start their meeting at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, reviewing the proposed concept design contract for bicycle and pedestrian improvements along Williams Road.  They will then be asked to approve preliminary landscape design improvements contracts for Ben Hill Griffin. Council will conduct a public hearing for the Estero Town Center zoning case continued from January 6, then they will address an Estero Town Center pedestrian/open space amenity area agreement. Estero Country Club expansion – public hearing The applicant was requesting a limited development order for a 2,169 square foot expansion of the existing clubhouse, to construct 2 new bocce ball courts, replace the temporary pickle ball courts with permanent courts and to modify the parking and landscaping in the area. The pickle ball courts will be further away from residents than the temporary pickle ball courts were, and the courts will not be lit.  The applicant stated that the paddles and balls used on the bocce ball courts are designed to reduce the noise of play by 30-35 percent. Estero is forming a Planning, Zoning & Design Board as a result of adopting its new Land Development Code.  This new Board will combine the functions of the current Planning & Zoning Board and Design Review Board duties. The Board will review applications for rezonings, comprehensive plan amendments, site plan approvals (development orders), and similar items for conformance with the Village Land Development Code and Comprehensive Plan. Bonita Springs/Estero Elks Lodge #2753 held a car show on Saturday, January 23, 2021, to raise funds for the Army of Hope. The Army of Hope assists Florida active-duty military personnel, wounded veterans and family members of a military member killed in action. Estero Fire Rescue opened the event at 11 a.m. by raising the American flag which was followed by the judging of a variety of cars.
