The Planning & Zoning Board will conduct public hearings for the Burgerim Restaurant in Coconut Point Mall; Comterra Development’s proposed hotel west of US 41 and south of Coconut Road, and Phoenix at Estero’s assisted living facility north and east of the intersection of Three Oaks Parkway and Corkscrew Road. In addition, the Board will conduct Public Information Meetings for Corkscrew Crossing located south of Corkscrew Road and west of Bella Terra, and the Miromar Hotel in the Miromar Outlet Mall. The Council meeting will start with a presentation by the National Weather Service recognizing that the Village of Estero has been certified as a "Storm Ready Community". Council will address a resolution approving the road layout for Estero Parkway and establishing the Estero standard for all Village roadways, the ranking of consultants for US 41 landscape design, and conduct a workshop on the Community Development project update.   FEMA specialists will be available at the Home Depot, 3402 Forum Blvd., Ft. Myers 33905, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., December 11 – 23, 2017, to answer questions and offer tips and techniques for building hazard-resistant homes to help prevent or reduce damage from future disasters. Most information is geared toward do-it-yourself work and general contractors. Topics will include flood insurance, rebuilding flooded homes, and elevating utilities.   Free reference booklets with information about protecting a home from flood damage will also be available. The Housing and Infrastructure elements of the Village’s Comprehensive Plan will be reviewed during the Council workshop at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 29. This is one of several Council workshops in conjunction with the Village’s first Comprehensive Plan which will be transmitted to the state for approval early next year. Lee County has added the Estero Community Park as an additional residential drop-off location for residents who do not want to wait for debris-management trucks to arrive.   Rather than using the park’s main entrance, residents need to enter the park’s maintenance compound entrance off the east side of Via Coconut Point. Signs will be posted. Lee County has launched a new Hurricane Irma Daily Updates landing page on its Solid Waste website. It also has started opening drop-off locations for residential horticultural debris from the storm. The Hurricane Irma Daily Updates site features an interactive map showing where crews are working. The map – also viewable on mobile phones – is updated each evening to show where trucks will arrive the next day throughout Lee County.
