Twelve students, ranging from fourth to eight grades at 3 Oaks Academy, had the opportunity to learn how the Village Council and staff work for Estero residents. Village Clerk Carol Sacco gave the students an overview of how Council conducts their meetings.   She then had the children sit at the dais and conduct their own “Council” meeting where they acted out the positions of Vice Mayor, Councilmembers, Village Attorney, Community Development Director and Village Clerk.  The agenda’s Action Item was “Longer School Lunch Periods” which was voted in unanimously. Hugh Ivany, Randy Perry, Dwight and Helen Jacobs Many Estero residents have been volunteering their time to help keep Estero litter-free and beautiful. Total litter collected since the end of last season from Williams Road, Estero Parkway, and Via Coconut Point - the three roads in the Village’s Adopt A Road Program - was 3,098 pounds. Our volunteers have collected 5,238 pounds - or 2.6 tons - of litter since the start of this successful initiative in the fall of 2021.
