First reading and public budget hearings  Resolution No. 2022-23 Council approved this resolution adopting the tentative millage rate and tentative levying of ad valorem taxes for fiscal year 2022-2023 of 0.7700 mills ($0.7700 per $1,000 of assessed property value). The Village of Estero, Estero Forever Foundation and Estero Chamber of Commerce invite you to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Golf Coast Driving Range, 9000 Williams Road, at 9 a.m., Friday. Hurricane season peaks from mid-August to mid-October As we head into the peak season for hurricanes, everyone should review their hurricane preparation plans. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration last week predicted there is a 60% chance for above normal activity this hurricane season. The weather agency predicts 14 to 20 named storms. The predicted number of hurricanes remains at six to 10, while those storms that hit the major category of at least 111 mph are now forecast to be three to five. On Thursday, July 21, Lee County Utilities will end the free chlorine flush, which will involve converting its disinfection process from a free chlorine residual back to chloramines as the primary disinfectant. Residents will be able to safely and responsibly dispose of household chemical waste from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Wednesday.  Items will not be accepted either before or after that time period.
