Planning & Zoning Board conducted a public hearing for Local Ladies Social Network, Inc. farmer’s market on July 21, 2020
The Board approved the Local Ladies Social Network, Inc.’s application, with conditions, for a farmer’s market at the Miromar Outlets Mall. The market, which is currently in operation, was approved to operate one day a week on Friday, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., through September 25, 2020, in the parking lot adjacent to Ben Hill Griffin Parkway. They offer arts and crafts along with fresh fruits and vegetables at tables that are placed in order to observe social distancing. Estero Historical Society looking for volunteers
The Estero Historical Society is looking for volunteers with unique experience. With the departure of long-time volunteers, they need help with the following: Librarian/Archivist: The Archivist-Librarian performs a variety of professional tasks involving the acquisition, accession, organization, and preservation of Historical Society archival and library materials; ensures their accessibility to the public; and performs research in support of Historical Society operations. Florida League of Cities Executive Director Rachel Keesling presented the League’s 2020 Legislative Appreciation Award to State Senator Kathleen Passidomo along with Mayor Bill Ribble Special guest Sen. Passidomo gave a short update on the legislative session stating they were successful in balancing the budget, including monies for water issues and monies in the reserves to be used to address COVID-19 issues. Governor Ron DeSantis and the Florida Surgeon General are reminding all Floridians to protect the vulnerable from COVID-19 by avoiding the Three Cs: Closed Spaces. Avoid closed spaces with poor ventilation that could allow contagious droplets to linger in the air. Crowded Places. The Village Council and I would first like to commend all of our frontliners and all of you for your efforts to help keep us safe during this pandemic. Unfortunately, the number of cases of the Coronavirus has been rising exponentially. Florida is now among the states with very high numbers of COVID-19 cases.
