Council started the meeting bestowing proclamations upon Estero High School Football Coach Darren Nelson and MVP Mason Crowell. Coach Nelson was honored for having led the Estero High School Wildcats to a win at the First Annual “Jaws vs Claws” competition with Bonita Spring on October 4. Mason Crowell is a 3-year performer at the varsity level on the Estero Wildcats and the starting running back and kicker. Council will start the meeting with proclamations for Estero High School football coach Darren Nelson and 1st Annual Jaws vs Claws MVP Mason Crowell. Next there will be a first reading of Ordinance No. 2019-29 pertaining to a rezoning to allow a multiple family project and commercial development known as Estero Crossing located 1,000 feet west of I-75 and Corkscrew Road. Wildcat Run Country Club presented in a Design Review Board public information meeting on October 9, 2019
Representatives for Wildcat Run Country Club located on Corkscrew Road gave a presentation on their proposed expansion of the Grill Room, outdoor deck and bocce courts on October 9. They plan to enhance the existing facilities, including adding an attractive entry and dining room with outdoor bar with fire pits, umbrella tables and soft seating. The changes include adding 2 bocce courts. The building’s paint color and roof tile will match the color of the clubhouse. Children spread kindness through Lee County library program
The Lee County Library System and Lee County Human & Veteran Services are working to help children spread kindness throughout the county. From now through Nov. 30, collection boxes will be placed at the South County Regional Library and all Lee County Library locations to gather supplies for people who are homeless. The following items are needed: travel-sized bottles of body wash, hand sanitizer and liquid soap, lip balm, toothbrushes, toothpaste, cans of dry shampoo, bug spray, sun block, flashlights, washcloths, socks, deodorant, individual packs of face and body wipes, ponchos and reusable utility sporks. Design Review Board to conduct a public information meeting for Wildcat Run Country Club on October 9, 2019
Wildcat Run Country Club will present their plans for expansion of their Grill Room, outdoor deck and bocce courts at a public information meeting at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 9. US 41 median landscape improvements are underway
Work has begun on the US 41 landscape improvements, starting at the Village’s southern boundary. The project extends from just south of Pelican Landing Blvd. to just north of the Breckenridge community. Workers are removing the existing shrubs and groundcover and replacing them with new plant materials. Please expect some turn lane and inside through lane closures during this construction period. The project is expected to be completed in approximately 5 months.

Action Item Resolution No. 2019-21 – Community Development Fee Schedule Council adopted this resolution establishing a fee under the Community Development Fee Schedule, to allow for electronic recording of documents as a convenience for customers, effective September 1, 2019. Some Community Development-related documents must be recorded in the official records of Lee County’s Clerk’s office which is located in downtown Fort Myers. Council will start their meeting at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, by considering a resolution establishing a fee for electronic document filing under the Community Development Department fee schedule. There will be a second reading of ordinances approving updates to the capital improvements element to update the capital improvements schedule for fiscal year 2019/2020 as well as ordinances amending and repealing inapplicable Lee County-only regulations. Council conducted a public hearing to adopt a compliance agreement to resolve an administrative challenge to the Village’s Comprehensive Plan by ARGO Land Development and the Richard I. Templeton Family Trust regarding their Corkscrew Crossing property. Corkscrew Crossing is a 395-acre property located on the south side of Corkscrew Road, between Wildcat Run and The Preserve. Council also conducted a second reading and approval of ordinances addressing a Comprehensive Plan text amendment to the Future Land Use Policy 1.2.3 Wetlands and the Corkscrew Crossing Zoning Amendment.
