Residents are invited to cheer on the Wildcats girls soccer team as they take on their first varsity game against challenger Bonita Springs at 6 p.m., Friday at the Bonita Springs Lee Health Field. The Wildcats won their first game on the road 5-0 at Cape Coral on November 12.  They will play at Golden Gate at 7 p.m., Thursday, November 14. The team is playing on the road until early December as the Estero Jeff Sommer home stadium is not playable due to overuse.

Resolution 2019-23 – Permitting the PACE program within the Village Council approved this resolution permitting Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) programs for commercial properties within the Village. The PACE program will allow a property owner to obtain funding for energy conservation and efficiency, renewable energy and wind resistance improvements, and repay such funding through voluntary special assessments. These improvements, whether done at construction or as a retrofit, reduce energy costs, increase the tax base, the property value, the life of the building and help retain employment. The Village of Estero is presenting a special concert in the park to honor all veterans, active military, first responders and gold star families from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Saturday, November 9. The concert features Estero concert artist Lindsey Graham who will be performing both patriotic and pop songs. Gary Bonvillian, an Estero Vietnam veteran, will be the guest speaker.  In addition, there will be a 21-gun salute, a riderless horse symbolizing fallen soldiers, a patriotic song by the New Horizons of Southwest Florida Children’s Choir, as well as free food and fun for the kids. Council will start their meeting at 9:30 a.m. reviewing a resolution to authorize the PACE Program for commercial properties in the Village. Next, Council will be asked to approve a street light standard or determine whether to address street lights on a roadway by roadway basis. A workshop will then be conducted to address solar power options. Southeast Lee County motorists are encouraged to seek alternate nighttime routes the first two nights in November. The Alico Road Widening Project from Ben Hill Griffin Parkway to Airport Haul Road will require the closure of Alico Road overnight while crews place drainage pipes across the road. The full roadway closure will begin at 7 p.m. and the road will reopen at 6 a.m. on the following dates, weather permitting: Friday, November 1 and Saturday, November 2. Council started the meeting bestowing proclamations upon Estero High School Football Coach Darren Nelson and MVP Mason Crowell.  Coach Nelson was honored for having led the Estero High School Wildcats to a win at the First Annual “Jaws vs Claws” competition with Bonita Spring on October 4. Mason Crowell is a 3-year performer at the varsity level on the Estero Wildcats and the starting running back and kicker.  He was the MVP at this competitive event; he had 26 carries for 100 yards, was two for two on extra points, one for two on field goals and was also successful [Read More.]

Representatives for Wildcat Run Country Club located on Corkscrew Road gave a presentation on their proposed expansion of the Grill Room, outdoor deck and bocce courts on October 9. They plan to enhance the existing facilities, including adding an attractive entry and dining room with outdoor bar with fire pits, umbrella tables and soft seating.
