Presentation Dr. Sandra Kauanui, Florida Gulf Coast University’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, announced they are conducting a fundraising effort in order to build a new Center on campus to support this important program. The Center is currently housed off-campus in the Emergent Technologies Institute. They have been given a commitment of $4 million to be matched by the community. There are only three such Centers such as this in the country. One of the examples of this program is there are currently 75 student-run businesses in the area generating over $2 million in revenue. The Planning & Zoning Board and Design Review Board will conduct a joint meeting at 5:30 p.m., April 24 for a presentation of the proposed Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan. The Planning & Zoning Board conducted a public hearing for the Shoppes at Coconut Point on Tuesday, April 16, 2019
The Shoppes at Coconut Point presented their plans to the Planning & Zoning Board on April 16. The applicant was requesting an amendment to the Coconut Point MPD/DRI to allow conversion of 6,000-square feet of retail to allow for rental of the 6,000-square feet for medical office space. This existing 25,000-square foot building is located at 8350 Hospital Drive, on the corner of Pelican Colony Boulevard and US 41. The Design Review Board will conduct a Public Hearing for Aldi at Estero Town Center at their meeting at 5:30 p.m., April 10. This is a proposed 22,149 square-foot grocery store which is located east of US 41 and directly north of Walmart at Estero Parkway. They will also conduct a Public Hearing for a 120-room hotel.
