Demolition of a Village owned structure and Hurricane Ian funding agreement among topics addressed by Council on February 15, 2023
Resolution 2023-02 – Demolition of Village owned structure 8801 Corkscrew Road prior to Hurricane Ian Council voted to adopt this resolution pertaining to the demolition of the property at 8801 Corkscrew Road, commonly known as the Dauray home. The structure has been inspected and found to be structurally unsound, with additional damage from Hurricane Ian, which would be very costly to repair. Note for residents living east of I-75 experiencing cell service problems
Village staff contacted Verizon regarding the loss of service for residents living east of I-75 and were told residents need to call to get a ticket number. The more calls Verizon receives, the higher the priority becomes. It is expected that the other service providers would react the same way. Be prepared to wait a long time when contacting the service provider. Staff spent 1 hour 20 minutes on hold prior to speaking with a representative.
Disaster Recovery Center in the Village Hall to close on February 14, 2023
The FEMA Disaster Recovery Center, which has been operating in the Village Hall Council Chambers since November 17, 2022, plans to close at this location at 6 p.m., Tuesday, February 14. FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers provide personal assistance and recommendations to residents who have been impacted by Hurricane Ian. Other Disaster Recovery Centers are still available to assist those in need.
