Former Estero Councilmember and first Mayor Nick Batos honored by Estero High School on May 27, 2021
Estero High School Principal Michael Amabile, former Principal Clayton Simmons, Culinary Program Chef Shanna Ross and Senior Class President Lillian Broduer were among those who came to honor former Councilmember and Estero’s first mayor Nick Batos with a paver in his name to be located at the front of the school. Council conducted first public hearing for a Comprehensive Plan amendment for a proposed school site on Three Oaks Parkway on May 26, 2021
First Reading of Ordinance 2021-07 Comprehensive Plan Amendment-School Site The School District of Lee County was requesting the Comprehensive Plan Amendment in order to develop an elementary and middle school, as well as related facilities, at this site on Three Oaks Parkway. The School District stated these two new schools are necessary due to the current and anticipated capacity issues in the South 2 Subzone area that includes South Fort Myers, San Carlos Park and Estero. Lee County Utilities ends free chlorine flush
Lee County Utilities on Monday, May 24, will end the free chlorine flush, which will involve converting its disinfection process from a free chlorine residual back to chloramines as the primary disinfectant. The free chlorine flush, which began May 3, is a routine measure common among water utilities that use chloramines as a primary disinfectant. Anyone who uses a kidney dialysis machine at home should contact an equipment supplier so the proper filtering equipment may be installed. Estero’s ‘American Idol’ contestant Casey Bishop update
“American Idol” will not be holding a beach-side concert for Casey on Tuesday, May 18 as she did not make it to the Top 3. The Village of Estero still wants to honor her with a key to the village.
