State of local emergency approved by Council on March 18, 2020
Council approved a state of local emergency resolution due to the coronavirus outbreak at their meeting on March 18. As a result, a majority of the Village staff will work remotely; almost all building, public works, records and meeting comment requests will be taken digitally; the Happehatchee Center programming is canceled; there will be daily disinfecting of all surfaces in the Village Hall, and there will continue to be close coordination with Lee County, neighboring cities and fire districts. Happehatchee Center to close through end of March 2020
The Village of Estero has temporarily suspended all programming at the Happehatchee Center. The Center will be closed to the public, at least through the end of March. The Happehatchee Center is located at 8791 Corkscrew Road.
Virtual public participation starting with the Village Council meeting on March 18, 2020
The 9:30 a.m., Wednesday Village Council meeting will proceed as planned and residents will be able to participate virtually instead of in person, if they choose. This service will be available for all upcoming Council, Planning & Zoning Board and Design Review Board meetings as long as social distancing is recommended. You have the opportunity to help Estero’s Council prioritize and finalize the Village’s 2020-21 capital improvements plan, along with setting a schedule of completion dates. Estero Wildcats proceed to Florida regional finals February 18, 2020
The Wildcats girls soccer team will compete in the Florida regional finals against Countryside from Clearwater at Estero High School’s Jeff Sommer Stadium at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Estero’s record is now 21-1-3 and Countryside’s record is 12-5-1. The Wildcats defeated Naples for the third time 2-0 in an exciting match on February 14 and Countryside beat North Fort Myers 3-2. Come out and wear blue to support your Wildcats trip to the State Cup Finals.
Council to conduct a workshop on the Parks, Recreation & Open Space Master Plan following their meeting on February 19, 2020
Council will consider a lien mitigation request and ordinances pertaining to impact fees and the water supply facilities work plan at their meeting at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Design Review Board to address The Commons Club at The Brooks, Houck Medical and the old post office property on Wednesday, November 13, 2019
The Design Review Board will conduct public information meetings for The Commons Club at The Brooks, Houck Medical and the old post office property at 5:30 p.m. on November 13. The Commons Club is requesting a 5,000 square foot addition to the existing Health and Lifestyle Center building located on Coconut Road. Houck Medical is requesting a two-story, 18,000 square foot medical building to be located at 10200 Arcos Avenue, one parcel east of the intersection of Three Oaks Parkway and Corkscrew Road. Council to address final millage rate, FY 2019-2020 budget and Estero Parkway landscape with lighting options at their meeting at 5:30 p.m., September 18, 2019
The meeting will start Wednesday evening with a presentation on the US 2020 Census by Census Bureau Recruiting Manager Don Radcliff, followed by public hearings adopting the final levying of ad valorem taxes and approving the FY 2019-2020 budget. Hurricane Dorian Update – 5
The Village of Estero is closely monitoring Hurricane Dorian as it progresses northward along the eastern coast of Florida, along with our partners in Lee County and the Estero and San Carlos Park Fire teams. Likely Impact: Hurricane Dorian is presently a category 3 storm, though it is not expected to provide a significant impact to Estero. The projected course will take the storm up the eastern coast of Florida.
