Intermittent ramp closures on I-75 at Corkscrew Road

Motorists can expect periodic closures of the southbound and northbound ramps on I-75 and Corkscrew Road, according to the Florida Department of Transportation. Crews will be resurfacing the roadway at I-75 exit 123 and related closures are planned to happen between 7:30 p.m. and 6 a.m. through Friday, Feb. 12, weather permitting. According to FDOT, variable message signs will be in place to alert drivers, and motorists should follow detours. The Estero Country Club at The Vines was requesting review of a 2,169 square foot expansion of their existing clubhouse, and their proposal to construct 2 new bocce ball courts, replace the temporary pickle ball courts with permanent courts and to modify the parking and landscaping in the area. Council reviewed proposed changes to the Land Development Code during this workshop. The Land Development Code lays out zoning and other regulations for subdivisions and development of land.  Council suggested several changes to the proposed revisions. The Florida Department of Health-Lee (FDOH) and Lee County government announced today that there is enough vaccine supply to schedule about 1,800 additional appointments Thursday and Friday, Jan. 14 and 15, at the site near Southwest Florida International Airport for seniors and frontline healthcare workers. After that, there will be no FDOH-Lee vaccine supply remaining this week. The reservation slots are expected to be claimed quickly, likely within minutes. Residents will be able to safely and responsibly dispose of household chemical waste, such as leftover paints, cleaners, herbicides, pesticides, automotive fluids and pool chemicals, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 20, 2021. The collection, hosted in partnership with Lee County Solid Waste, will be held at the Estero Community Park, 9200 Corkscrew Palms Blvd.  Drop off is an easy, drive-through process available to all residents at no charge.
