Board Interviews Council conducted interviews with 11 applicants for the Planning & Zoning Board and the Design Review Board. Additional interviews will be conducted at the March 7 meeting. Action Items US 41 Landscape Beautification Project Council approved a contract with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. to proceed with the landscape design work for the medians of US 41 from the northern boundary of Estero to just south of Coconut Road. This contract is for $144,000. Once the Florida Department of Transportation approves the design, they will then fund the landscape beautification project up to $766,000. Public Hearing Burgerim Restaurant The Burgerim Restaurant is a casual restaurant serving hamburgers, salads, sandwiches, and was requesting approval to sell beer and wine. The Wildcats pulled off a 5-4 comeback victory over Southwest Ranches-Archbishop McCarthy Friday, February 16, to advance the team to its first-ever trip to a state final. The Wildcats will now face Montverde Academy, a 4-2 winner over St. Johns-Bartram Trail, in the state championship game at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 23, at Spec Martin Memorial Stadium in DeLand. The Wildcats will host Archbishop McCarthy in the 4A state semifinals at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 16, at the Estero High School’s Jeff Sommer Stadium on Williams Road. This follows their 3-1 win over Bloomingdale on Tuesday, cheered on by the hometown crowd dressed in white to support the team.  The Wildcats are now 24-2-1. Admission is $9.

The Estero Wildcats win against the Baden River Pirates last week means they are now eligible to compete in the Regional State Cup Finals. The Wildcats won their last match at their competitors’ stadium with a score of 4-2. The Wildcats will host the Regional State Cup Finals against Bloomingdale from Hillsborough County at the Estero High School’s Jeff Sommer Stadium on Williams Road on Tuesday, February 13 at 7 p.m. Both teams are offensive minded, so this should be an exciting match.  Come out and cheer on Estero’s Wildcats. Admission is $7.
