Village monument signs and roadway contracts among topics addressed by Council on April 20, 2022
Council presented Burt Saunders, Esq., Gray Robinson P.A., with a proclamation recognizing him for serving as Village Attorney since the Village’s first meeting on March 17, 2015 through April 20, 2022. Saunders was acknowledged for being uniquely qualified to provide assistance to a newly established government, and being integral to establishing procedures from the Village’s initial startup to present. Roadway improvements and “River Oaks” purchase among topics for Council on April 20, 2022
Council will start their meeting at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, and will be asked to take a final vote in order to proceed with the purchase of the 10-acre “River Oaks” property at the east end of Broadway Avenue. They will then address contracts for the demolition of deteriorating structures on the Estero on the River property, Williams Road bike/pedestrian improvements, Ben Hill Griffin Parkway improvements and additional US 41 landscape maintenance. Corkscrew Road Widening Update from Lee County
The following work activities are scheduled to occur, weather permitting: UPDATE: Due to weather and other unforeseen conditions, LARGE DELIVERY TRUCKS HEADED TO WILDCAT RUN MUST CONTINUE TO USE THE FPL EASEMENT TO ACCESS WILDCAT RUN again from Monday, April 18 through Wednesday, April 20. Passenger vehicles and small delivery trucks can use the entrance during this work. Residents and guests at Wildcat run should expect crews working in the community entrance to remove pavers, complete asphalt work, and install curb in the area. Estero on the River, Genova, and Estero Crossing among the presentations to the Planning, Zoning & Design Board on April 12, 2022
Lockwood House The meeting started with a short briefing on the Estero on the River property by Community Development Director Mary Gibbs and Public Works Director David Willems. This is the 67-acre property off of US 41 and Corkscrew Road. The portion of the property south of the river will be rezoned for park and open space public use. The Village plans to construct walking trails as the first phase. The property contains several older buildings and structures that had previously been identified as potential historical resources. Council conducted a workshop pertaining to the Village-owned property at 8801 Corkscrew Road on April 13, 2022
Mayor Katy Errington, Councilmembers Larry Fiesel, Jim Ward, Joanne Ribble, Jim Boesch, Jim Wilson, and Village Attorney Burt Saunders visited the property and conducted a short workshop to walk the site and inspect the buildings. This five-acre property is just east of the Happehatchee Center and is part of the Estero on the River property. Council will review their recommendations for the property at an upcoming meeting. Estero on the River, Spring Run and Miromar Outlets among topics for the Planning, Zoning and Design Board meeting April 12, 2022
The Board will start their meeting at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, with a brief presentation regarding the recent Cultural Resource Assessment Survey Update prepared for the Village by Archaeological Consultants, Inc. The survey was conducted on the Estero on the River land located south of the river between US 41 and west of the Happehatchee Center property. River Oaks and Driving Range purchase on the agenda for Council April 6, 2022

Williams Road Intersection Design Public Meeting held on March 31, 2022
Approximately 50 residents attended the public meeting held Thursday evening at the Estero Recreation Center to relay information and gather residents’ input on the Village’s proposed design improvements to Williams Road at Atlantic Gulf Boulevard directly west of US 41. There were a number of enlarged concepts of the roadway for residents to review, with team members at each location to explain the proposed changes, to take comments and answer questions.
