The Village of Estero is closely monitoring Hurricane Dorian as it progresses towards Florida, along with our partners in Lee County and the Estero and San Carlos Park Fire teams. No evacuations are required at this time. What We Know: Hurricane Dorian will impact the eastern coast of Florida early next week (likely Monday). What Remains Unclear: The weather forecast is clarifying. Though Hurricane Dorian has intensified to a category 5, it is not expected to provide a significant impact to Estero. Millage rate and budget on the agenda for the Village Council at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 4, 2019
Council will conduct a first public hearing for the tentative ad valorem tax rate and budget at their meeting at 5:30 p.m. on September 4. The final public hearing and adoption of the ad valorem tax rate and budget is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on September 18. Florida Cancer Specialists presented to the Design Review Board on August 14, 2019
Workshop Representatives for Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute presented their plans for an infusion center to be located east of US 41 and south of Pelican Colony Blvd., adjacent to Extra Space Storage. They are planning a single-story facility with a public space healing garden. The building as proposed will have 3 tile roof towers to add undulation, with stucco and stone elevations. There are decorative corbels over the building windows. Planning & Zoning Board to conduct public hearings for Coconut Point Farmers Market and FBC Home Concept Sales & Display on August 20, 2019
The Board will start their meeting at 5:30 p.m. with a public hearing addressing an administrative variance to reduce a required side setback for an existing single-family dwelling in Copper Oaks. Design Review Board to conduct a workshop for Florida Cancer Specialists at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 14, 2019
Florida Cancer Specialists will give a presentation on their proposed single story medical office and outpatient treatment center with supporting infrastructure and landscaping during a workshop on August 14. As we head into the peak season for hurricanes, everyone should review their hurricane preparation plans. There are a number of things you may do to prepare as this peak season starts. Council will start the meeting with a resolution determining the proposed millage rate for fiscal year 2019-2020. The proposed millage rate is 0.7750 mills, which is equal to the prior year’s rate. The two public hearings for the millage rate will be held on September 4, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. and September 18, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. A second resolution addresses the Estero on the River property which has submerged land leased from the State of Florida’s Department of Environmental Protection.
