Proclamations Mayor Boesch read a proclamation to be presented to Senior Project Manager Kate Brown and The Trust for Public Land recognizing the extraordinary and tireless efforts of Ms. Brown and The Trust for Public Land in bringing the Village Partners LLC and the Village of Estero together for the successful purchase of the Estero on the River land purchase. Vice-Mayor Bill Ribble named President of the Southwest Florida League of Cities Board
On January 22, 2019, the Southwest Florida League of Cities (SWFLC), announced its 2019 officers, with the Village of Estero’s Vice-Mayor Bill Ribble named President. Other Board officers will be City of Bonita Springs Councilman Fred Forbes as Vice President; City of La Belle Commissioner Julie Wilkins as Treasurer; and City of Sanibel Vice-Mayor Mick Denham as Secretary. The SWFLC is comprised of eleven municipalities in Charlotte, Collier, Lee, and Hendry Counties dedicated to a strong, united, and active advocacy program. Friends of Koreshan State Park looking for volunteers
Volunteers are needed at our beautiful Koreshan State Park. There are many activities scheduled throughout the year, and they can use help with everything from office work, carpentry, pulling weeds to serving as tour guides. Traffic signal, street light and traffic sign standards to be reviewed during a Council workshop on Wednesday, January 23, 2019
Estero does not currently have uniform standards for traffic signals, street lights or traffic signs. Council will discuss whether the Village should establish new standards at their workshop at 9:30 a.m., January 23. In addition, Council will receive an update on the US 41 landscape plan along with a second reading/public hearing of ordinances repealing inapplicable Lee County-only regulations. Cascades of Estero, Rookery Point and Estero Crossing applications presented before the Planning & Zoning Board on January 15, 2019
Public Information Meeting Cascades of Estero Representatives for Cascades of Estero Residents Association are looking to amend their zoning to allow the construction of four pickle ball courts, bathroom facilities and 10 parking spaces in the area that has been reserved as a future right of way for a Sandy Lane Extension. Their plan calls for using sound-reducing paddles and a rubber surface on the courts as well as directing the lighting away from the adjacent homes so as to not impact the neighboring homeowners. Estero residents actively participated in the Village’s Parks & Recreation workshop January 14, 2019
Approximately 75 residents attended the first workshop held to help the Village determine the long-range vision for the future Parks and Recreation Plan. Following a brief overview of the planning process, residents participated by placing dots on photos of items they felt were priorities and writing suggestions on post it notes and placing them on maps of existing areas where they felt improvements could be made in the facilities and/or recreation opportunities. Estero Historical Society addressed water issues at their membership meeting on January 14, 2019

Estero on the River land purchase final approval completed on January 9, 2019
Council approved the final details for the Estero on the River land purchase including a loan agreement with Capital Bank, a division of First Tennessee Bank National Association. The total project cost of $24,600,000 is to be funded by a down payment of $4,600,000 from the general fund. The remaining $20,000,000 debt will be at a 4.01 fixed rate with no penalty for prepayment unless the loan is refinanced with another lender and $1,400,000 debt service.
