The Planning & Zoning Board will conduct two public information meetings at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 23. The first request is to address rezoning 5.2 acres from AG-2 to Community Facilities Planned Development at 21560 River Ranch Road, located south of Corkscrew Road and on the west side of River Ranch, adjacent to River of Life Church. Clarion Consultants presented the Land Development Code Assessment at a joint meeting of the Planning & Zoning Board and the Design Review Board on October 16 . Clarion Consultants have been working with Johnson Engineering and the Village staff to design and streamline the Village’s first Land Development Code. Public Comment Barbara Saxton, Friends of River Oaks Preserve, stated the group is now comprised of 12 members. Volunteers from FGCU and the ROTC will be helping clear some of the invasives on the property and the group is planning a music festival in November. Land purchase, Miromar Outlet Hotel and gas pump security measures are on the agenda for the Village Council on October 17, 2018
A resolution authorizing the purchase of 62.05± acres of land adjacent to the Estero River, the first reading of an ordinance permitting the 135-room Miromar Outlet Hotel and the first reading of an ordinance establishing security measure requirements for owners and operators of retail gas pumps are on the Council meeting agenda at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 17. In addition, there will be workshops pertaining to the Land Development Code and Estero Parkway Access Management Plan. Ribbon-cutting ceremony conducted for Genova, first residential community in Estero’s Village Center
Councilmembers Jim Wilson, Jon McLain, Katy Errington, Mayor Jim Boesch, managing partner of Genova Partners Jim Wallace and Genova partner Carl Gruber, Vice-Mayor Bill Ribble and Councilmember Nick Batos participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the grand opening of the first residential building in Genova on October 11, 2018. When completed, Genova will be a gated community of 205 condos in six Mediterranean, 4-story courtyard/atrium buildings overlooking a lake. The project will transform the current transitional LDC into a more user-friendly and efficient document, and establish zone districts and development standards that incorporate the community’s values for development form and quality in ways that implement and are consistent with the recently-adopted Estero Comprehensive Plan. “Salute to Veterans” planning team looking for volunteers
The Village of Estero will salute all Estero veterans, active military, first responders and gold star parents from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Saturday, November 17 with a free, family-oriented party at the Estero Community Park. There will be children’s activities, free hot dogs with fixings, a 21-gun salute, patriotic and pop music performed by Estero concert artist Lindsey Graham as well as recognition of those who are currently serving, or have previously served, our country. The Estero Educational Initiative was established to create a partnership between the Village of Estero and the Lee County School District to help make the schools in Estero the best they can be. Hertz Arena, Heartland Dental and Shoppes at University Highlands presented to the Design Review Board on September 26, 2018
A representative for the applicant presented their proposed colors for repainting the exterior surfaces of Germain Arena located at 11000 Everblades Parkway, west of Ben Hill Griffin Parkway and north of Corkscrew Road. The colors are Hertz yellow, tricorn black and extra white. They will be replacing the roof on the building to withstand a category 5 hurricane.
