Estero High School Culinary Program fundraiser
The first annual fundraiser for the Estero High School Culinary Program will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, December 19 at the Shadow Wood Country Club. Called “Evening under the Shadow Wood”, this benefit gala and silent auction will generate funds to send the high school competition team to Orlando in March to compete in the Florida ProStart state culinary competition. The fundraiser will also provide monies to purchase product for students to work with in class and purchase the necessary equipment needed to upgrade their kitchen in order to become a premier program. Hurricane Matthew Update
The latest updates for Hurricane Matthew have the storm tracking further west than originally expected, with possible landfall on the east coast of Florida Thursday into Friday. Although Southwest Florida is not in the direct path of the storm, we will feel some effects such as increased wind gusts and rain, which may have an effect on our area. Estero Historical Society’s Independence Day Celebration
Each year, the Estero Historical Society celebrates the 4th of July by providing segments of history connected with the signing of the Declaration of Independence. This year there were about 60 people who braved the heat to go to the Society’s historic cottage in the Estero Community Park to celebrate our national holiday. Estero Fire Rescue provided the backdrop with a large flag raised from their fire truck. “Colonists” marched on scene and cited some of the grievances the country had with Great Britain at that time and problems associated with the American Revolutionary War. Support Estero High Booster Club
Soccer team to help raise funds for Estero High Booster Club The Southwest Florida Adrenaline, a top-level men’s amateur soccer team, will play all of its home games at Estero High School this season. And, the Adrenaline USA Sports Foundation will donate $1.00 to the Estero Booster Club for each person who attends these games. Attendance is free at all of the games, so you just have to show up to help raise money to support Estero High School’s sports programs and fields. April concert to feature Beethoven, Prokofiev, and Ravel
The final concert of the Estero Concert Series’ season will feature chamber music composed by Beethoven, Prokofiev, and Ravel at 4 p.m., Sunday, April 10. Performing artists include: Jennifer Kozbial-Posadas and Marlena Chow on violins, John T. Posadas on viola and Adam Satinsky on cello.
